Concordia Students Go “Out to the Ball Game”
On July 16, 2009, students from Concordia Learning Center participated in a special “Covering the Bases” event at Waterfront Park in Trenton, NJ, the home of the Trenton Thunder, an American Minor League Baseball team.
The exciting event was hosted by the New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired to send the message that individuals who are blind and visually impaired can and do enjoy participating in the same recreational and entertainment activities as anyone else. Most importantly, the event was a fun-filled night of excitement as students and teachers cheered on the Trenton Thunder to 9-6 win over rivals, the Portland Sea Dogs.
Petting Zoo Friends Visit Concordia Learning Center
The students of Concordia Learning Center met some of their favorite petting zoo friends this summer as Wagon Wheel Stables from Oakridge, NJ pulled in for a visit.
A soft, friendly rabbit and happy hamster easily won the hearts of all the children who stopped to pet them. Lively goats, a donkey and an exotic llama were also part of the menagerie. The fun filled day brought students, their families, and Concordia Learning Center staff together to share a unique and special event.
