WHAT AGE RANGE ARE ST. JOSEPH'S STUDENTS?
As almost 90% of what a child learns in the first 3 years of life is
through visual observation, St. Joseph's services start with the very
young—infants up to 3 years of age. Our Early Intervention
Program ensures the infant does not fall behind his or her sighted peers.
By learning at home and working in close cooperation with parents and
family members, every child is given the opportunity to build a sound
developmental foundation that will prepare them for the rest of their
lives.
This is followed by the Pre-School Program for children
aged 3 to 5 years with its emphasis on basic academic education, independence
skills, socialization, and learning through play.
Then comes a series of increasingly sophisticated and wide-ranging
Educational and Independence Programs for students 6 to 21
years of age. Woven throughout all these programs are key independence
skills including orientation and mobility, and preparation for pursuing
employment options in the community at large.
